Cute enough for learning to tell time
We have particular standards and are book obsessed. This picture book is cute and will be great for most families with toddlers but didnt quite meet our standards. We were really hoping this would be super fun, clever and rhyme along with the great time telling lessons and adorable pictures. It delivered on two out of three for us so I am betting most families will love it.

Excellent for Halloween!
This is a great story even though I think the time is definitely off for some of the things that happen. First of all I can guarantee you that no one I have ever known has left the house at 11:00 PM to BEGIN trick or treating. NO one! If we did that 1) no one would answer the door (unless they were not the kind of people you would visit for candy) , and 2) if they DID open the door, they would be out of candy. So unless you want to end up on a show about missing people, do NOT go trick or treating at dark thirty. Period.When the clock strikes midnight it's Halloween. Really? Then why were the kids trick or treating an hour before Halloween even started? That makes no sense whatsoever. No, people don't normally start trick or treating an hour before midnight, but they DEFINITELY don't do so the day BEFORE Halloween! (And how do you go hour by hour beginning at 1:00 and ending at midnight if it is dark every hour? OK, one scene m-a-y have been dusk, but I think that's a stretch.)FORTUNATELY, I don't think kids are going to pick up on these things. I think they will be more interested in the story, the illustrations, and finding out what happened every hour. (This would be a good way to sneak in a lesson about telling time.) The illustrations are fantastic, and they pair well with the story as it winds its way through 12 hours. Yes, the 11th and 12th hours bothered me, but I still have no problem sharing this with children OR recommending it to you. I thought it was a great Halloween story. Like I said, kids aren't going to care about the timing of the events.
